Musical Biography Of Aishwariya Jayakumar
My musical journey started
through Hindustani Vocal Music (North Indian Classical Music) from Gujarat,
Northern India. At an early age, I started pursuing music learning with a
Visharad-structured syllabus and exams. The disciplined training in Indian Classical
Vocal music provided me with a solid foundation in music education, enabling me
to obtain certification in this field. These exams were conducted by the
Gujarat Sangeet Samiti board, Ahmedabad, India. The Hindustani Vocal Music
studies infused a vibrant knowledge about different forms of singing. Dhrupad,
Khayal, Tarana, Thumri, Dadra, Dhamar, Bhajan, Ghazal, etc., are a few
highlights of the singing styles in my learning exploration. My singing brought
lots of valuable insights, expressions, and significance to present the piece
with the authentic essence and intentions. As a versatile twist, brief lessons
in Chennai, India, from G. Ramanathan, a famous saxophonist and composer,
guided me to learn Carnatic Music Keerthanas and Sri Annamacharya compositions
(South Indian Classical Music) to taste pure spiritual essence.
With the same dedication, I was
fortunate to explore my musical journey with some international opportunities.
As part of my musical path, attending regular musical practice, training, and
workshops conducted in the temple of fine arts, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, shaped
artistic instincts and expressions. My instructor, Arvinder Singh Raina, a
highly accomplished Indian musician, singer, composer, and lyricist, was a
motivating and encouraging mentor. I am proud and feel blessed to continue my
advanced training with him online to date.
Musical learning is not only the
comprehension of skilful techniques, but also develops a versatile style of
singing to sense musical relevance with meditative and inner awakening.
Showering the enormous radiance of Goddess Saraswati, I did have the opportunity of
meeting and attending workshops conducted by a well-known artist from India.
The well- known artist, like Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj, an Indian
dancer and composer, Pandit. Dr Aviraj Tayade, a talented classical vocalist,
and Dr Vijay Rajput, a legendary musical singer, are maestros in the field. Dr
Aviraj Tayade and Dr Vijay Rajput were trained under the tutelage of Bharat
Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi in Hindustani Classical Music. Meeting, interacting,
and learning from these renowned musicians inspired me to be dedicated and
passionate towards my singing skills and creativity. They blessed me with their
highest intentions to continue my musical journey with the same passion and
dedication. They shared their intricate, meticulous, and insightful tactics
with me and all students to cherish our unique capabilities.
Moving with renewed energy, I joined the KM Music Conservatory, Chennai (Founder Padma Bhushan A. R. Rahman) to mature my musical understanding. The experience of joining KMMC connected me with many musical talents. My musical friends taught me to communicate my creative mind with new possibilities in the sound engineering field and to record my own work. The instructors in the institution helped mature my Hindustani vocal singing with different techniques to embellish the piece with melodious tones. My participation in programs and training at KMMC, Chennai, was a memorable and lasting influence in my life.
Though Indian music was my
initiation, I did study and continue Classical Western music (piano) and Western
vocal training to instil various music sensitivity. Introducing my musical
ability to Western music helped me study and learn musical
retentions and compositions through structured learning. Securing an Advanced level Grade 8 (Piano), The
Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM), London, and an Intermediate
level in Western Vocal singing helped transform my perspective for better multi-cultural
and global artistic visions. Being bestowed with such harmonious literacy, I
learnt that art is beyond human gifts.
Live the magic of music for
soulful living...!!!
