ReplyDeleteThank you so much...!!!
DeleteThis is an outstanding article pertaining to the importance of music in our physical, mental and spiritual life. An old book stated that the ancient healers believed that the human body is a harpsichord and when strings are too relaxed or too tense, the instrument is out of tune. When this occurs nature can be searched for the remedy, and there is a cure for every physical ailment. Man's will in itself is medicine and can be guided to help him heal. When he finds a string that is too tight he can relax it and when he finds a string that is too loose he can tighten it. Music is a profound way to address the strings of our human instrument.

Music has always been extremely important to me in my life. It has, without a doubt, gotten me through some very hard times in my life. 1973 was a very hard year for me for it was right after my mom died at 51 when I was 22. The Album Fantasy by Carole King helped me get through those hard times. I still listen to that album when I'm down, to this day.
ReplyDeleteWow...really thank you sir.

I agree that singing has major health benefits, especially in older adults.
ReplyDeleteSinging is generally seen as entertainment. Iconic reality shows in the 21st century are consistently pumping out some of the world’s best talent, showcasing complexity, beauty and elegance produced when air and words collide. As a result, the face of singing has drastically changed, and if singing isn’t one of a person’s best assets, I can see it being very intimidating to even try. Hopefully this post has encouraged someone to adopt singing as a new hobby.
As a geriatric fall prevention expert, I see the benefits singing can have in older adults. As the aging population increases in number, there is a demand for unique interventions, and many healthcare professionals are considering the therapeutic benefits of the arts. According to a study by Skingley & Bungay (2010), singing provided positive clinical outcomes and promoted better health in older adults. Singing is an exceptional therapy method, and it is often an under-utilized intervention. Older adults who regularly participate in singing activities such as singing clubs, choirs, and even fun with karaoke, can help improve their physical mobility and increase their memory.
Singing has been shown to increase physical mobility in the area of breathing and improved posture. It is excellent in challenging one to control the diaphragm and breathing patterns. This often improves lung capacity and helps an older individual inhale and exhale with ease. In addition, singing has been shown to improve memory and provide cognitive stimulation, which can significantly reduce anxiety and difficulty with sleep; it can also decrease the incidence of depression in older adults (Skingley & Bungay, 2010).
I hope your insightful blog will be a great encouragement for many people, both young and old, to consider incorporating singing as a therapy to improve one’s quality of life. Thank you!
